White-Coated Tongue Home Remedies

The human tongue is one of the strongest muscles in the entire body. It gives us the ability to taste food and swallow, and a healthy tongue is known for its pink color. But at certain times, your tongue might have a white coating over it, which is a common problem for everyone, and it can lead to bad breath or a bitter taste.

It turns white whenever food debris and bacteria get tucked between inflamed papillae, and this inflammation can occur due to either dehydration, dry mouth, fever, or smoking. But in most cases, it should be just a sign of dehydration, so drink water, or other healthy fluids throughout the day to get rid of the problem naturally.

There are many natural treatments that can help keep your mouth and the tongue area healthy and clean:

Salt – is the best cure for a white-coated tongue. The salt itself will work as a natural tongue scraper that will remove dead cells all by itself. What you should do is simply sprinkle some salt on your white tongue and scrub gently using your toothbrush for no longer than a minute. After that, rinse it off with warm water, and make sure to repeat 2x daily, which will give you the results you want within a week.

Baking Soda – is a remedy that can definitely remove a white coat from your tongue, and it maintains good pH levels in the mouth by neutralizing the acids within. All you have to do is mix a little baking soda with lemon juice to make a paste, which you should use to brush your tongue. Make sure to brush with that once a day until you get the desired results.

Hydrogen Peroxide – it has a remarkably strong antibacterial property that kills bacteria found on the surface of the tongue, and as a plus, hydrogen peroxide can make your teeth look more white. It is highly recommended by medical workers to only use the 3% hydrogen peroxide solution.

Aloe Vera Juice – aloe vera can help treat oral problems mostly because of its anti-inflammatory and healing properties, and it also kills bacteria that cause bad breath.

Vegetable Glycerin – this represents another popular home remedy for a white-coated tongue. The vegetable glycerin is especially effective when the dry mouth is what’s causing you the problem, and it can even get rid of bad breath.
